Sisalril Instruts To Authorize Electronic Recipes12.06.2020
From May 1st 2020, the Superintendence of Health and Labor Risks (SISALRIL) established that Health Risk Administrators (ARS) and pharmacies must accept medical prescriptions prescribed on an outpatient basis, both in the usual printed format and in digital format, provided that the medications are described in the Family Health Insurance (SFS) catalog.
The provision is contained in SISALRIL Circular No. 1741, which also establishes that members requiring the continued use of medications from the SFS catalogue, which have been previously prescribed by the treating physician, must maintain the continuous dispensing of such medications in pharmacies even if they do not have a current dated prescription.
The Superintendence of Health and Labor Risks (SISALRIL) clarified that medications containing controlled substances are not included in the provision to accept prescriptions or medical prescriptions by electronic way. The entity explained that these medications must be prescribed and dispensed in accordance with the form, requirements and procedures established by the competent authorities, as provided for in Article 31 of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances of the Dominican Republic.
